Education: Registered Apprenticeship certificate. or equivalent experience. Work setting: Industrial. Manufacture. Tasks: Interpret welding process specifications. Operate manual or semi-automatic, fully automated welding equipment. Examine welds and ensure that they meet standards and/or specifications. Operate brakes, shears and other metal shaping, straightening and bending machines. Operate hoisting and lifting equipment. Operate previously set-up welding machines to fabricate or repair metal parts and products. Start up, shut down, adjust and monitor robotic welding production line. Apprenticeship training: Pre-apprenticeship training. Level one apprenticeship training. Level two apprenticeship training. Level three apprenticeship training. Welding techniques: Oxy-acetylene welding (OAW). Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW). Gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Flux core arc welding (FCAW). Equipment and machinery experience: Arc welding machine. Gas welding machine. Spot welding machine. Area of specialization: Custom fabrication. Machinery or equipment repair. Structural construction. Fencing, balconies, stairs and railings. Transportation/travel information: Own transportation. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Repetitive tasks. Handling heavy loads.
