About this role
Empath Health is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to design, implementation, optimization, and support of the organization's enterprise network infrastructure. This role servs as a primary technical expert for network technologies and is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and performance of all network services.
The Senior Nework Engineer will take ownership of the newwork environment, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and lead initiatives that enhanve performance, resiliency, and security, in addition to technical reponsibilitues, this role serves as an escalation point for comlex issues and provides guidance and mentorhip to othe IT Staff.
Location: Hybrid (driving distance to one of our service areas, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, or Tampa/St. Petersburg)
What you'll do
• Experience leading technical projects and working with vendors is also important for success in this role.
• The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing and maintaining the organization's network architecture. This includes local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless networks, and connections to cloud environments and external service providers. The engineer develops scalable and resilient network designs that support both current operations and future growth.
• Evaluating new technologies, recommending improvements, and implementing solutions that enhance network performance and reliability. The engineer is expected to maintain a long-term view of the network environment and ensure that infrastructure decisions align with organizational strategy.
• Network design responsibilities also include implementing redundancy and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime and ensure continuity of operations. The engineer works to eliminate single points of failure and ensure that critical systems remain accessible during outages or maintenance events.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining firewall configurations that protect the organization's network while allowing necessary traffic to pass securely. This includes managing firewall policies, access control lists, and network address translation configurations.
• Manages core network services such as DNS and DHCP, which are critical for reliable network operations. This includes maintaining DNS zones and records, managing DHCP scopes, and ensuring reliable name resolution and IP address assignment.

What you'll need
• A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of formal education.
• Several years of network engineering experience in production environments, along with experience supporting multiple locations and critical business systems.
• The Senior Network Engineer must possess strong technical expertise across a broad range of networking technologies. A deep understanding of TCP/IP networking and enterprise infrastructure is essential.
• Experience with routing and switching technologies, firewall configurations, and core network services such as DNS and DHCP. The engineer must also have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose complex issues.
• A solid understanding of network security principles is required to ensure that network configurations align with organizational standards
