About this role

Pay: $19.46

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain control over the admission, classification, and release of detainees; review and verify booking and release documentation, including inmate identity at release

Coordinate and schedule detainees/offenders for intake, diagnostic processing, and release

Conduct fact-finding interviews; fingerprint and photograph detainees; prepare required forms, reports, and correspondence

Develop, coordinate, and maintain accurate recordkeeping and filing systems

Ensure proper classification of inmates for housing assignments

Conduct detainee counts, monitor movements, maintain daily logs, and respond to emergencies

Initiate or participate in disciplinary actions and prepare incident reports as needed

Assist law enforcement agencies, courts, attorneys, probation/parole, medical staff, and the public

Answer phones and respond to inquiries in a professional and courteous manner

Provide orientation to new detainees regarding facility rules, classification procedures, and regulations

Inventory, tag, and document inmate property in accordance with facility procedures

Maintain an organized property room and accurate inventory logs

Ensure all inmate property is properly recorded in the Jail Management System (JMS)

Inventory, log, and securely store detainee valuables (including currency, phones, jewelry, and other high-value items) in designated secure areas

Perform additional duties as assigned to support facility operations

Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities:

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Valid driver's license

Experience in correctional setting is highly desirable

Long periods of continuous standing and walking for 4 hours or more per shift

Frequent periods of sitting for 30 minutes or more

Repetitive climbing of stairs to reach the assigned areas and working at heights

Occasional knelling, squatting, and bending to perform “pat” or “strip” searches

Frequent grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting

Occasionally responding to altercations and occasional restraining and securing assaultive offenders

Ability to respond rapidly to potential security and/or medical codes/issues

Frequent transferring and transporting offenders by walking or riding in various vehicles such as vans, buses, and other forms of transportation

Continuous periods of operating/driving company vehicles to pick up and transport offenders for 4 hours or more per shift

Remaining awake and alert while on duty for 12 or more hours per shift

Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50-100 lbs

Ability to occasionally withstand direct or indirect exposure to OC spray

Exposure for up to 12 hours or more per shift of outdoor elements and temperatures with scheduled breaks

Ability to hear and understand verbal communication
