This is a Full-time/hourly position.

REMOTE/HYBRID: Typical schedules are in-office Monday through Friday. This position requires availability to work some evening shifts. Remote work is not available for this position.

About the Role As a Court Clerk, you will serve as a front-line, customer‑service‑focused team member responsible for accurately and efficiently processing municipal court information and supporting daily court operations. In this detail‑oriented administrative role, you will interact with defendants, attorneys, internal staff, and the public while ensuring timely and compliant court processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

A. Administrative Support

• Answer and route incoming calls, providing information on municipal court policies and procedures.

• Establish and maintain court files and computerized records; verify accuracy of ticket and case information.

• Run reports such as motor vehicle histories and criminal histories.

• Receive and process payments for fines, fees, bonds, jury deposits, copy requests, and other court receipts.

• Balance cash drawers daily and prepare required cash reports

• Utilize Colorado Crime Information Center systems to query criminal histories, warrant information, and other interagency communications.

• Process case dispositions, send reports to the motor vehicle department, and maintain warrant records.

• Enter bench warrants, file warrants, and coordinate with the Police Department regarding warrant status.

• Prepare bonding documents and process bond forfeitures.

• Monitor community service completions and schedule show‑cause hearings.

• Prepare correspondence, notices, arraignment letters, trial notifications, and hearing schedules.

• Work with the prosecutor to prepare and distribute subpoenas.

• Process delinquent notices, failure‑to‑appear notices, mittimuses, and proper releases.

• Coordinate prisoner status updates and video arraignments.

B. Court Hearing Support

• Prepare arraignment and trial dockets, ensuring all necessary files are complete.

• Set up the courtroom and serve as clerk for the Judge, creating audio recordings, tracking dispositions, and entering real‑time data.

• Assist defendants, attorneys, and the public throughout the court process

• Determine and record trial dates according to the speedy trial rule and trial requirements.

• Issue appropriate orders, fines, refunds, and monitor compliance with laws and procedures.

• Assist with jury selection and ensure trial recordings comply with applicable laws.

C. Miscellaneous Duties

• Process warrant cancellations, juror payments, and fine refund vouchers.

• Provide backup assistance to Administrative Services staff and coverage for the City information desk.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods, and equipment.

• Strong command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

• Ability to perform administrative and clerical tasks accurately and efficiently.

• Ability to operate office technology quickly and accurately.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, including required compliance with CJIS standards.

• Clear and professional communication skills.

• Ability to make sound decisions and work effectively with the public and internal staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of court rules, procedures, State laws, City Code, and legal terminology.

Education & Experience Requirements

• Ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license with an acceptable driving record

• Two years of responsible municipal, county, district, or state court or legal experience, including computerized record systems.

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; college coursework in criminal justice, court reporting, or related fields is preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not supervise staff.

Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment, often seated at a computer for several hours at a time. Occasional motor‑vehicle travel for meetings or training may be required. Duties involve coordinating multiple tasks and maintaining professional interactions with staff, vendors, public agencies, and community members.
