Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mine Superintendent (Open Cut) is responsible for leading all aspects of the open cut mining operation to ensure the highest standards of safety, productivity and operational performance are achieved. This role provides leadership across mine planning, geotechnical management and operational execution while maintaining strong partnerships with mining contractors and key stakeholders. Based at our Northparkes Operation, you’ll: Provide leadership and direction to the open cut mining team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and high performance. Oversee planning, execution and review of open pit mining activities to support production targets and operational excellence. Lead mine planning functions to ensure forecasts are robust, achievable and continuously refined. Ensure geotechnical risks and hazards are effectively managed in collaboration with technical specialists. Support operational teams through mining engineering analysis, risk assessment and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage and oversee mining contractor performance and maintain strong contractor relationships. Contribute to open cut optimisation studies and life-of-mine planning activities. Develop and mentor a team of technical professionals, supporting capability growth and succession planning. Why Northparkes Operations? Big things are happening at Northparkes. You are an experienced mining leader with a strong technical foundation and a proven ability to inspire teams and deliver operational outcomes. You bring a collaborative leadership style, strong commercial awareness and a passion for building safe and productive workplaces. To be successful, you will have: Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline. Extensive experience within open cut mining operations, ideally 5+ years. Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical and operational teams. Strong mine planning and project management capability. Experience across load and haul and drill and blast operations. Sound knowledge of mine safety systems, risk management and geotechnical considerations. Experience with mining software such as Vulcan and Deswik. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and contractor management skills. A current manual driver's licence Ready to create your career highlight with us?
