Job Summary Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our Neurosurgery team at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Waxahachie. The Physician Assistant is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who provides direct patient care and possesses prescriptive authority. The PA is credentialed, privileged, and billed as an independent provider through Medicare and Medicaid. Working in collaboration with supervising physicians, the Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive neurosurgical care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include patient evaluations, obtaining comprehensive histories and physicals, hospital rounding, postoperative management, outpatient clinic follow-up, consultation services, treatment planning, patient education, and coordination of care. The PA will work closely with neurosurgeons and the multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with neurological and spine conditions. Essential Functions of the Role

• Assesses the physical and mental condition of patients by performing and obtaining comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories. • Orders, collects, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and health care needs. • Prescribes or recommends medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments within scope of practice and applicable regulations. • Formulates and implements patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and standards of care. Works with physicians and team members when needed. Evaluates patient response to care and treatment effectiveness. • Provides evaluation and management services for neurosurgical patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. • Performs inpatient rounding, hospital consultations, postoperative follow-up, and clinic-based patient care. • Assists in the management of patients with spine disorders, neurological conditions, trauma-related injuries, and other neurosurgical diagnoses. • Counsels patients and families on medical processes, illness management, medications, treatment plans, surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and health promotion. • Maintains appropriate records detailing patient treatment plans and outcomes. • Initiates timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice or expertise. • Provides consultation-level services for conditions and problems related to Neurosurgery. • Manages patients in healthcare settings other than the primary clinic setting, including inpatient services and procedural areas. • Performs procedures specific to scope of practice and proficiency as delegated by the supervising physician. • May assist in the operating room based on experience, training, privileges, and departmental needs. • May be required to perform patient care duties beyond the regular schedule based on department coverage needs. Qualifications Required

• EDUCATION - Graduate of an Accredited Physician Assistant Program • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION • Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) • Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire or transfer
