HSE Technician The HSE Technician initiates, implements, analyzes, reports, and oversees all safety, training, and environment programs for the Lapeer Plant. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Directs implementation of company safety programs, to include developing safety methods, procedures and policies based on company guidelines. 2. Monitors safety program and company metrics analysis and improvement system. 3. Monitors facility and processes for adherence to MIOSHA and OSHA guidelines. 4. Identifies and evaluates environmental hazards, recommends corrective action as necessary. 5. Performs risk analysis and measures and evaluates effectiveness of safety policies, makes needed modifications. 6. Leads the emergency response team (ERT) safety committee, performs safety and/or environmental training. 7. Supervises worker’s compensation recordkeeping and responds to employee accidents with treatment, follow up, and internal reporting. 8. Responsible for implementing, administering, maintaining, and evaluating programs for Environmental Management System ISO 14001. 9. Responsible for overseeing the Storm Water Program as the Certified Storm Water Operator. 10. Responsible for implementing, administering, maintaining, and evaluating programs for Occupational Health & Safety Management System ISO 45001. 11. Responsible for the management of the GHSI (Global Health and Safety Indicator). 12. Initiates action to prevent accidents both machinery and behavior. 13. Initiates, performs, and oversees all aspects of operations, technical, safety, environmental and quality training, and documentation. 14. Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule. 15. Participation in the Internal ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Audit schedule (applies only to certified ISO 9001/IATF 16949 internal auditors). 16. Participation and cooperation in answering questions and providing information for internal and external audits regarding or related to customer standards. 17. Performs other assigned duties as necessary. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. High School Diploma 2. (2 – 5) years’ experience in EHS. 3. Manufacturing experience - Automotive preferred 4. Coursework and training in occupational safety requirements and OSHA guidelines are required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently and assess priorities. - Regular attendance, ability to work as part of a team, ability to work overtime as needed, and ability to travel are required aspects of this position. - Required to continue education and acquire certifications as needed. - Responds quickly and efficiently to emergencies. - Remains calm in high-stress situations.
