The Finance & Accounting team creates the framework for all financial activity for USC Auxiliary Services. Finance & Accounting maintains the fiscal integrity of all finances and works closely with the business units to insure proper controls, policies and procedures are in place to protect the assets of the University. We are a team of analytical thinkers, problem solvers and spirited Trojans. With a unit as large as Auxiliary Services, no task is too big, or too small, for our team!

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our rapidly growing team.

Work Arrangement: This position offers a primarily remote work arrangement, with onsite attendance required as needed for meetings and other business needs, including at minimum once per month. The remote work arrangement is subject to change at any time based on University and business needs.

The Opportunity:

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the financial reporting and forecasting of IT, People Operations, Finance, Trademarks & Licensing, Campus Filming, and the office of the Vice President. The finance manager will also work closely with the senior leadership team on understanding their funding needs and monitoring spend. In addition, the role will work closely with the Executive Director on consolidation of financial reporting and process improvement.

The Accountabilities:

• Manage financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, monthly projections, variance analysis, financial modeling, and data analysis for assigned Auxiliary Services administrative and senior leadership areas.

• Partner with directors and senior leaders to manage and monitor departmental budgets, assess financial performance, identify trends and variances, and provide financial guidance and recommendations to support informed decision-making.

• Lead monthly financial reviews with senior leadership, providing clear analysis of actual results, forecasts, budget performance, and key financial drivers.

• Perform month-end close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, expense approvals, and other accounting responsibilities in accordance with GAAP and University policies and procedures.

• Manage and monitor salary and payroll-related expenses for administrative and senior leadership areas, including IT, Finance, and the Executive Senior Leadership Team.

• Oversee senior leadership P-Card activity, including expense review, compliance auditing, and adherence to University financial policies and procedures.

• Serve as a financial resource to senior leaders and business partners, providing ongoing support with Workday Finance transactions, financial processes, and other finance-related needs.

• Collaborate closely with USC Central Finance, including the Comptroller’s Office, to support financial reporting, accounting requirements, and University-wide financial processes.

• Utilize Workday Finance and TM1 to analyze financial data, prepare reporting and forecasts, monitor financial performance, and support monthly financial processes.

• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, and analysis. Proactively investigate issues and provide practical solutions and recommendations to leadership.

• Support the Executive Director with consolidated financial reporting, special projects, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Based on business needs, additional availability may be required during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Qualifiers

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education

• Minimum Experience: 7 years

• Minimum Field of Expertise: Directly related accounting experience including supervision or management in a large private university or organization.

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$130,000.00. When determining an offer, the University of Southern California considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate’s experience, education, training, key skills, internal peer alignment, applicable laws, contractual requirements, grant funding, and market conditions.

Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree Minimum Experience: 5 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Senior or lead bookkeeping/ accounting experience with directly related college study. Thorough knowledge of established accounting principles, methods, practices and terminology used in financial/accounting and statistical recordkeeping work.
