Job Description Summary Organization's Summary Statement: The Department of Education invites applicant to apply for a full-time, nonexempt position with full benefits. The position will report to the Department Chair. The Administrative Assistant I will support the Department of Education performing moderately complex administrative duties. Incumbents have responsibility for office operations and function independently, where procedures have been established with moderate consequence of error.
Salary Range: $45,375 - $51,783

Responsibilities: • Screens telephone calls and visitors, independently handles routine matters, and forwards remainder to appropriate parties. • Makes travel arrangements following general instructions and campus procedures. • Performs necessary follow-up for vouchers, expense reports, and reimbursements. • Orders supplies and equipment; oversees equipment maintenance • Assists with department budget, updating department accounts, and creating routine reports. • Assists with admissions-related outreach, including programs and events for prospective students. • Assists with faculty onboarding and separation processes. • Prepares appointment forms and personnel paperwork. • Processes purchase requisitions and procurement requests • Coordinate purchasing documentation and reimbursement requests • Coordinates adjunct hiring documentation. • Provides administrative support to adjunct faculty • Provides necessary updates to course schedules • Gathers and consolidates background information for reports, utilizing available resources such as departmental files, policy and procedure documents, Internet research, and communication with internal and external contacts. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands: • May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at desk. • May require lifting. • Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and internally. • Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Preferences: • Strong written and oral communication skills. • Experience with Microsoft Office and G (Google) Suites. • Experience providing administrative support in a higher education setting. • Ability to interact with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner; and to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED AND 2 years experience providing administrative support.
