Job summary
We are seeking an organised and professional administrator to support the day-to-day operation of the Surgical Elective Centre (SEC) and Theatre Directorate. Working closely with the Theatre Matron, Deputy Matrons and Band 7 Senior Management Team, the post holder will provide efficient and effective administrative support, helping to ensure the smooth running of theatre services and associated directorate activities.
As part of the Theatres Administration Team, you will play a key role in supporting patient admissions and discharges within the SEC, contributing to a positive patient experience, and supporting the effective flow of patients through theatre services. This is a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of clinical and administrative colleagues in a busy healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide administrative support to the Theatre Matron, Theatre Deputy Matrons and Band 7 Senior Management Team, contributing to the efficient operation of theatre services and other areas of the Directorate as required.
Working as part of the Theatres Administration Team, you will support the smooth running of the Directorate by coordinating a range of administrative processes and ensuring that information is managed accurately and effectively. A key element of the role will be overseeing the day-to-day administration of the Surgical Elective Centre patient admission and discharge area, helping to ensure patients are admitted, transferred, and discharged in a timely and efficient manner.
You will work closely with clinical teams and other colleagues across the Directorate to support the patient pathway through theatres, ensuring that administrative processes facilitate the safe and effective delivery of care. The role will involve acting as a central point of contact for patients, staff, and visitors, responding to enquiries professionally and maintaining a welcoming and organised environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining high standards of administrative support, ensuring records are accurate, procedures are followed and services are delivered in a responsive and efficient manner to support both patients and clinical teams.
