Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated practice nurse to join us at St Paul's Cottage in Southfields. We are looking for someone who loves general practice and wants to help us deliver high quality primary care.
This is a part time post based at St Paul's Cottage Surgery for two days per week, 15 hours/week, negotiable shift patterns. Competitive salary, reflective of experience.

About us
St Paul's Cottage Surgery is in Southfields and part of the Brocklebank Primary Care Network. Our three practices serve a combined list of 30,000 patients under a single partnership, in one PCN. Each has its own patient list and characteristics. At St Paul's Cottage our list size is approximately 8500.
Our PCN teams up for peer support and education, with common back-office systems and team members who work across or in more than one practice. In this way, we achieve more together than we could separately.
We provide structured induction and mentoring in a supportive environment and with exposure to a broad spectrum of clinical work and innovative practice.

1) CLINICAL
a) Undertake clinical duties, with relevant training, in some or all of these areas
Cervical Cytology ECG Spirometry NHS Health Checks Post Natal Clinics Wound Care Phlebotomy Ear Care Childhood Immunisation & Travel Vaccination Long Term Condition Clinics Family Planning Advice Hypertension Monitoring
b) To actively encourage & facilitate lifestyle choices for patients by providing health promotion during routine screening procedures, i.e. cervical cytology, over 75yr check, well woman/men checks, chronic disease management.
c) Use analytical & judgemental skills to assess, plan, implement & evaluate clinical packages of care in collaboration with the patient & other health & social care professionals.
d) Undertake clinical procedures with awareness for potential hazards, risks & infection control policies.
e) Have an understanding & work within Patient Group Directions to administer medication where appropriate.
2) COMMUNICATION
To communicate effectively using a variety of communication skills; verbal & non verbal, written & electronic, with a variety of patients, client groups, individuals & organisations within & external to the NHS To use effective communication skills with a diverse patient & relative group, using negotiation & persuasive skills to motivate. The ability to concentrate for long periods of time with frequent interruptions and unpredictable workload & occasional distressing or emotional consultations. To keep accurate & up-to-date records of all consultations in accordance with practice & NMC guidelines. To ensure confidentiality at all times
