About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity for a full time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Neuro Rehabilitation team at Clayponds Hospital to work in our skilled and friendly MDT. As one of the Band 6 Occupational Therapists you will be expected to carry a clinical caseload and be an active member of the multi-disciplinary rehabilitation team. You will work closely with the Band 7 and 6 Occupational Therapists on Rosemary ward (our Level 3 unit) to ensure we deliver a high quality Occupational Therapy input to our patients (mix of Stroke, Neuro and Gen med rehab patients). The successful candidate would be part of a supportive and friendly AHP team including Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Dieticians, Psychology, Therapy Technicians, as well as part of a bigger MDT of our Nurses, Doctors and Pharmacists. Rosemary ward is an integral part of the wider Intermediate Care team based at Clayponds Hospital. Patients have access to a variety of equipment in a large unique gym space and additional specific designated ADL rooms. Patients receive specialist therapy input until they are able to return their to preferred discharge destination.

Main duties of the job

To work within the clinical team, managing your own caseload including assessment, implementing and evaluating treatment and applying specialist skills to support patients presenting with varied and complex conditions.

With senior support, to provide clinical expertise in the prioritisation and treatment of patients within the scope of the conditions referred to the integrated care service. To ensure that service provision supports the objectives of Ealing Community Partners and meets expectations regarding national guidelines

Primarily to work on Jasmin and/or Magnolia Ward with the General Medical and Admission avoidance bed, but may be asked to cover the other neurological/general rehab wards as required.

The post holder will ensure the service provision supports the objectives of the Trust.

To train and supervise junior staff in the team and support students on placement

To work with the senior clinical team in the development of a robust service delivery model, to facilitate the effective use of resources and execute the appropriate changes in order to meet the current demand.

Qualifications and Training Essential

oDiploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy oHealth and Care Professions Council registration (HCPC).

Desirable

Experience Essential

oSubstantial post graduate experience to include relevant specialist courses. oSubstantial experience within Physical health care at Band 5 level. oSuccessful completion of field work educator training course and/or first line management course and/or experience of managing junior staff. oExperience of assessing complex disability using clinical reasoning skills oEvidence of involvement in service development and/or service redesign programmes. oExperience of manually handling patients and/or equipment safely to attain positioning necessary to perform safe and effective clinical assessments and treatments. oHighly developed manual handling, therapeutic and positioning skills oExperience of using cognitive, behavioural and communication strategies to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and rehabilitation goals are met oExperience of supervision of students/ Rehab Technicians with development of basic supervision skills. oNHS Experience
