Reporting to the Hätrʼunohtän Zho Manager, the primary role of this position is to promote and advance TH cultural education, with an emphasis on student success, through First Nation cultural programming, reconciliation, and progressive advocacy for TH students and their respective families at the Robert Service School (RSS) and in general. This position will maintain a scheduled presence at the RSS and at the TH Education Department and will accomplish this role by liaising and networking regularly with students, parents / guardians, educators, school jëje-in, TH Education Team members and other TH government departmental jëje-in. This position is also responsible for carrying out daily operational duties, monitoring monthly budgets, work plans, activity reports, and other administrative functions.
An Eligibility List may be established from this competition – the duration of the eligibility list may be up to 12 months. The eligibility list may be used to fill future permanent full-time, permanent part-time, temporary full-time, temporary part-time, term, or auxiliary on-call vacancies within the same department and classification based on the organizational needs by going the next highest ranked candidate until the eligibility list expires.

Essential Qualifications:
• Post Secondary Diploma/Degree in Education or a related academic field. An equivalent combination of education, knowledge, skills and experience may be considered.
• Experience working with children/youth in an education, workshop, extracurricular or afterschool program environment.
• Broad knowledge of and experience working with other governments with respect to education programming and funding agencies.
• Broad knowledge and understanding of TH history, culture and traditions.
• Awareness of educational, cultural and social issues affecting First Nation people in the Yukon.
• Experience in program planning, coordination, development and delivery to meet identified goals and objectives
• Experience in resolving conflicts
• Experience with office procedures including, creating and maintaining files, completing forms, and using a personal computer and associated software.
Assets:
• Knowledge and understanding of the TH Self-Government Agreements, TH Final Agreement and TH Implementation Plans.
• Experience coordinating cultural programming (an asset).
• Knowledge of the educational priorities of Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Government and TH Education (an asset)
• Experience using restorative justice practices combined with an understanding of the connection between restorative justice philosophy and the traditional practices of indigenous cultures (an asset)
Conditions of Employment:
• Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Class 5 Driver’s License with clear driver abstract.
• Class 4 Driver’s License within 4 months of hire.
• Wilderness First Aid certification, with willingness to take Remote First Aid.
• TH101 Cultural Awareness training.
