Your Role
As an Oncology Doctor, you will provide high-quality, patient-centred cancer care while adapting your clinical practice to the realities of a humanitarian setting.
You will:
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with suspected and confirmed malignancies.
• Develop and oversee appropriate cancer treatment plans, including chemotherapy, supportive care, and palliative care.
• Manage oncology emergencies, treatment complications, and complex clinical presentations.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
• Help develop and strengthen practical cancer-care pathways suited to the available resources.
• Ensure appropriate referral and continuity of care for patients requiring investigations or treatment unavailable within the project.
• Mentor, supervise, and train local healthcare professionals, sharing your knowledge and clinical expertise.
• Contribute to clinical guidelines, protocols, standard operating procedures, audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Provide compassionate counselling and education to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment, prognosis, and palliative care.
• Identify gaps in cancer services and work with MSF teams to improve access, quality, and continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate, confidential, and high-quality clinical documentation.
• Contribute to strengthening local healthcare systems and building sustainable oncology capacity.

You should have:
• Relevant specialist training and experience in oncology.
• Strong clinical judgement and the ability to work independently when required.
• Experience managing complex oncology patients and treatment-related complications.
• The ability to adapt clinical practice in settings where resources, investigations, and treatment options may be limited.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
• A genuine interest in teaching, mentoring, and developing local healthcare capacity.
• A patient-centred approach and commitment to medical ethics and professional standards.
• Resilience, flexibility, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in challenging environments.
