About this role
Kinetic Edge Physical Therapy is seeking an experienced, dependable, and analytical Accounting Manager to help lead the financial operations of our growing organization.
Kinetic Edge is an independent, therapist-owned physical and occupational therapy practice serving communities throughout central and southern Iowa. Since 1998, we have remained committed to our clients, our communities, and our team. Our purpose is to transform lives and restore hope through movement.
As Kinetic Edge continues to grow, we need someone who can ensure our financial information is accurate and timely while helping our leaders use that information to make wise business decisions.
This is more than a bookkeeping position. The Accounting Manager will play an important role in helping our leadership team understand the financial health of the organization and make informed decisions about staffing, compensation, growth, budgeting, and operations.
What You'll Do
The Accounting Manager will oversee and coordinate the financial operations of Kinetic Edge, including:
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports
• Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate financial reporting
• Oversee accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and related accounting processes
• Support payroll-related financial processes
• Develop and maintain annual operating budgets
• Provide budget-to-actual and variance reporting
• Monitor and forecast cash flow
• Develop financial forecasts to support organizational planning
• Track financial performance by clinic, department, and service line
• Monitor key financial metrics, including labor expense, revenue, profitability, and operating margins
• Help leadership identify financial trends, opportunities, and areas of concern
• Assist with compensation, bonus, and productivity analysis
• Evaluate the financial impact of hiring decisions, capital purchases, new programs, and growth opportunities
• Work with clinic and department leaders to improve financial understanding and accountability
• Coordinate with outside accounting professionals for taxes, year-end reporting, and specialized accounting needs
• Develop and improve financial policies, processes, and internal controls
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenses
• Provide understandable and actionable financial information to the CEO and leadership team
What We're Looking For
Our ideal candidate enjoys both accounting and business. We want someone who can produce accurate financial information but can also explain what the numbers mean and help our leaders determine what to do next.
Preferred qualifications include:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
• Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting or financial-management experience preferred
• Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and general accounting principles
• Strong Excel and financial-analysis skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
• Ability to identify trends and translate financial information into practical recommendations
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to clearly explain financial concepts to leaders without accounting backgrounds
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with organizational leaders
• High degree of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment
• Healthcare or multi-location business experience is beneficial but not required
CPA certification is welcomed but not required. We are more interested in finding someone who understands the financial operation of a business and can help us make better decisions than we are in finding a particular credential.
You'll Thrive Here If You:
• Like digging into numbers to understand the story behind them
• Notice when something doesn't look right and want to understand why
• Enjoy improving processes rather than simply maintaining them
• Can move comfortably between detailed accounting work and bigger-picture financial analysis
• Want your work to directly influence organizational success
• Enjoy working for a locally owned organization where leaders are accessible
• Value teamwork, continuous learning, service, integrity, and doing things the right way
Why Kinetic Edge?
