Job Summary
This professional will be an integral member of Investure’s Accounting and Treasury team. Reporting to the Fund Controller, the Fund Accountant will take meaningful ownership of the accounting and operations of Investure’s investment vehicles, with broad exposure to the full lifecycle of fund accounting, investment activity, valuations, financial reporting, and investor capital activity. The role offers the opportunity to build a strong understanding of institutional investment operations while taking increasing responsibility for key processes and deliverables. The Fund Accountant will collaborate closely with Investure’s Accounting and Treasury team, third-party Fund Administrator, investment managers, and other internal and external partners to drive accurate financial reporting, effective fund operations, and continuous improvement across Investure’s accounting processes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to take ownership of responsibilities and resolve issues independently. This individual should be intellectually curious, comfortable working with complex investment activity, and committed to continuous improvement, including thoughtfully leveraging technology and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence to improve the quality and efficiency of work.
The Company
Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, Investure was founded in 2003 to serve as the outsourced investment office to a select number of non-profit endowments and private foundations. Managing assets of approximately $22 billion as of January 2026, Investure is responsible for portfolio management, asset allocation, and manager selection investing across a number of asset classes, including fixed income and credit, global public equities, alternative investments (e.g., hedge funds, private equity, venture), and real assets. This is a full-time position with an anticipated starting annual base salary range of $80,000–$90,000 at the time of this posting. Annual salary is a part of Investure’s overall compensation and benefits package; full-time positions are typically eligible for discretionary components including merit-based performance bonus, portfolio bonus (based on firm performance), and employer 401(k) contribution, among other benefits such as group health insurance. The annual base salary range for this position is a guideline and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in determining base salary include (but are not limited to) position responsibilities, individual education/qualifications, general and role-specific experience, knowledge, skills and other abilities, as well as internal equity, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
The position is based in-office with a remote option currently on Fridays. Investure will not sponsor H-1B or other employment-related visas for this position.
Essential Functions
Responsible for supporting and assisting the Accounting and Treasury team with various tasks including but not limited to the below:
Fund Accounting & Financial Close
• Perform key components of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for Investure’s fund vehicles.
• Prepare, review, and post investment transactions to Investure’s internal accounting system.
• Perform reconciliations between Investure’s accounting records and the official books and records maintained by the Fund Administrator; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Review monthly and quarterly market values provided by underlying investment managers and investigate discrepancies or unusual activity as appropriate.
• Coordinate and process capital activity for Investure funds.
• Maintain accurate and organized accounting workpapers, documentation, and supporting records.
• Assist the Fund Controller and broader Accounting and Treasury team with reporting, audit support, and other fund-related accounting requirements.
• Provide periodic backup support to Client Accounting and Treasury functions as needed.
Fund Administrator & Investment Manager Coordination
• Serve as a day-to-day accounting contact with Investure’s Fund Administrator and work collaboratively to research and resolve accounting and reconciliation matters.
• Communicate with underlying investment managers and other external partners to obtain information, resolve questions, and support accounting and closing processes.
Process Improvement, Controls & Systems
• Develop a strong understanding of Investure’s fund accounting processes, systems, and controls and identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and recurring workflows.
• Thoughtfully leverage technology, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve accounting processes, analysis, documentation, and other work while maintaining appropriate judgment, controls, confidentiality, and review.
• Participate in process improvements, system enhancements, and other Accounting and Treasury projects and initiatives.
Responsibilities and title will ultimately be commensurate with the professional’s experience and demonstrated faculties and judgment.
Education, Experience & Skills
• 1–3+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in public accounting, investment management, fund accounting, financial services, or a similarly complex accounting environment; experience with investment fund accounting or operations strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA or progress toward CPA designation a plus.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and demonstrated ability to research and resolve complex transactions, reconciliations, and accounting discrepancies.
• Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with accounting systems and complex data; experience with a double-entry accounting system preferred.
• Effective analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities and manage competing deadlines.
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and interest in investment structures, fund accounting, technology, and emerging tools, including artificial intelligence.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism.
