About this role
The production supervisor is responsible for maintaining production standards related to quality, safety, maintenance, production and employee conduct. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring continuity of operations on the shop floor by ensuring the daily priorities are completed as well as performing activities to reduce downtime or rework.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Quality
• Ensure employees are following all quality control procedures including but not limited visual inspections, inspection using measurement tools, documentation of quality in accordance with company policy.
• Perform daily check-ins with employees to ensure quality control procedures are being performed
• Document quality issues by completing Non-Conformance Report.
• Conduct root cause analysis.
• Update Work Instructions and provide training to support improved quality.
• Safety
• Ensure employees are following all safety procedures including but not limited to the use of proper PPE, use of tools or machinery.
• Ensure weekly safety inspections are completed. Review them and escalate any issues to Production Manager.
• Initiate corrective actions to fix safety issues, coordinate with Production Manager accordingly.
• Equipment / Maintenance
• Ensure operators perform daily cleaning and maintenance activities.
• For maintenance for non-operator level maintenance activities, report via email to maintenance personnel and Production Manager.
• Responsible for ensuring planned maintenance activities are performed as prescribed for all equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance to minimize the impact on production / reduce downtime
• Production
• Assign labor resources to work areas to best facilitate daily priorities.
• Alert Production Manager immediately if any deviations from planned schedule occur.
• Review project requirements with Leads and/or other production personnel to ensure project is completed in accordance with customer specifications and are processed as efficiently as possible. Specifically:
• Ensure proper hanging
• Maximize line density
• Minimize spacer bars/paint changes when possible
• Regularly review labor time and costs, ensuring labor is in conformance with project budgets
• Evaluate overall labor resources, make recommendations and assist in the hiring process.
• Solve immediate problems on the floor to ensure the continuation of production while maintaining quality and safety.
• Employee Relations
• Responsible for ensuring production employees follow all company policies and guidelines including but not limited to Code of Conduct, Work Rules, Attendance Policy
• Monitor and approve employee timecards, PTO requests, etc.
• Conduct regular performance assessments, provide feedback for additional training, corrective actions or professional development
• Coordinate with Production Manager to administer any disciplinary actions.
• QUALIFICATIONS
• Education and /or Experience
• Two-year degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing or industrial coating environment.
• Experience with PVDF coatings and automated paint lines strongly preferred.
• Skills
• Ability to understand highly technical information.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to articulate project requirements, company needs, etc.
• Ability to resolve conflict
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word)
• Physical Requirements
• Frequently required to move about the production floor to observe operations and to communicate with employees.
• Possess the ability to see (color vision, distance vision, adjust focus), hear and touch to evaluate quality and safety.
• May be required to lift or move 25 pounds.
