About this role

The School Emotional Counselor will provide comprehensive counseling services to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs. The counselor will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to create a supportive, nurturing environment that fosters students' emotional and psychological well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

• Counseling Services:

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students dealing with emotional, social, and behavioral issues.

• Develop and implement effective counseling programs to meet students' needs.

• Assist students in setting and achieving personal and academic goals.

• Assessment and Evaluation:

• Conduct assessments to identify students' emotional and psychological needs.

• Develop individualized counseling plans based on assessments.

• Monitor and evaluate students' progress and adjust counseling strategies as needed.

• Crisis Intervention:

• Provide immediate support and intervention for students experiencing crises.

• Develop and implement crisis response plans and protocols.

• Collaborate with community resources and agencies for additional support and referrals.

• Collaboration and Consultation:

• Work closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to identify and address students' emotional and behavioral issues.

• Provide consultation and training to school staff on mental health awareness and strategies for supporting students.

• Serve as a liaison between the school, parents, and external mental health professionals.

• Program Development and Implementation:

• Develop and implement school-wide programs to promote emotional and psychological well-being.

• Organize workshops, seminars, and activities focused on mental health awareness and skill-building.

• Evaluate program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments.

• Record Keeping and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions and student progress.

• Prepare and submit reports on counseling activities and outcomes as required.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and school policies regarding student confidentiality and records.

Qualifications:

• Strong knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and practices.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population and their families.

• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

• Proficiency in using counseling software and other relevant technology.
