Emergency Medical Technician
Position Description: The EMT is on the team that is first to respond to emergency calls for medical assistance. The responder assesses the situation, obtains basic medical history and performs a physical examination of the patient, and provides emergency care at the site as well as during transit to the hospital. This position is reserved exclusively for Managed Care OSI.
Major/Essential Functions: • Direct Patient Care - Serve patients in the health facility under the direction of a physician and within the scope of practice of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). • Emergency Response - Provide emergent, urgent, and routine medical response and basic life support to patients in the medical facility, utilizing CPR and necessary equipment. • Patient Assessments - Evaluate patients' current medical conditions including medical history, current medications, past medications, and other treatment services. • Clinical Activity Documentation - Document timely, clearly, and concisely: current medical conditions and health needs, medical and treatment history including currently prescribed medications, and ongoing medical services in the patient's medical record. • Medication Administration - Administer prescribed treatments and medication ordered by a provider, as needed. • Equipment and Facility Maintenance - Ensure healthcare equipment in the medical facility is in good working order in terms of functionality and sterilization for use during examinations and treatments. • Clinical Assistance - Provide support for physicians and/or medical providers during procedures and treatment protocols. • Other Duties - Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in the job classification and/or position description.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic health records. Ability to operate in a dynamic health facility, under the direction of supervising nurses.
Pay Statement: Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. Required Qualifications: High School equivalent education completed plus 1 year minimum of related experience. Must have an active EMT-Basic certification as well as active CPR certification.

Visa Information: TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
