Secondary Machine Operator (CNC)
Job Description: The Secondary Machine Operator ensures machinery is set up, works properly and conforms with and can produce materials that conform with company and customer quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities: The main job functions and responsibilities of the Secondary Machine Operator includes but not limited to the following:
Duties and Responsibilities: • Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include lathes, grinders, mills and similar equipment. • Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments. • Produces the required quantity of parts within established specifications and tolerances. • Measures finished pieces with precision measuring tools and equipment to ensure they meet order specifications. • Removes defective products or materials, placing them in specified areas for handling. • Maintains a clean and safe work area. • Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: Physical Requirements: • Comfortable working in a light industrial/manufacturing environment. (noise, smells) • Prolonged periods of working on feet, using tools and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and lifting. • Must be able to lift up to (50) pounds at times • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced. • Must have manual dexterity necessary to operate the machinery.
Required Experience: Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams and blueprints. • Ability to operate highly technical machinery and basic hand tools. • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment. • Strong math, analytical and problem solving skills. • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills: Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Up to two years of experience operating machinery in manufacturing environment. • Two to three years of experience operating lathes, mills and grinders preferred.
