CNC Machinist
Job Description: As a CNC Multi-Axis Lathe Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC lathes with multi-axis capabilities. You will work on producing complex, high-precision parts, and will be expected to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, select tools, and ensure that all components meet our exacting quality standards. This position requires a keen understanding of multi-axis turning and machining processes, along with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize machine performance. Key Responsibilities:
• Set up and operate CNC multi-axis lathes to produce intricate and precision parts, including turning, threading, boring, drilling, and other lathe operations. • Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine tooling requirements. • Select and install proper tooling, fixtures, and workpieces for each production job, ensuring machine setups are correct and efficient. • Monitor and adjust machine operations to maintain precision during production runs, addressing any issues related to quality, machine malfunctions, or tooling. • Inspect finished components using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to ensure all parts meet exact specifications. • Troubleshoot and resolve machine and process issues, making adjustments to improve performance, efficiency, and quality. • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement new processes, optimize current machining methods, and ensure continuous improvement in production quality and efficiency. • Maintain accurate records of work orders, setups, inspections, and machine logs. • Follow safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment by adhering to company and industry safety standards. • Perform routine maintenance on CNC lathes and other equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent (CNC certification or technical training is preferred). • Minimum of 5 years of experience operating CNC multi-axis lathes in a precision manufacturing environment. • Ability to set up and operate CNC lathes with 3-axis, 4-axis, or 5-axis capabilities. • Proficient with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and indicators). • Experience working with a variety of materials, including metals (aluminum, steel, titanium, etc.) and plastics. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-precision, high-quality components. • Problem-solving skills to identify issues and troubleshoot machine, tooling, or process problems. • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints. • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. • Excellent communication skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
