About this role
Job summary We are looking for an individual who has the drive, enthusiasm and personality to become a key member of staff within one of Europe's largest dialysis programs. Working across multiple areas you will be responsible for planning/managing your own workload within his interesting role which involves assisting in the day-to-day technical operations of our hospital-based department, become a key department contact for our extensive home dialysis program through the forming of close working relationships. The varied role will allow the post holder to work within ITU and externally at other Trust hospitals. The role will involve extended periods working alone off site.
Main duties of the job The key elements of the role will be ensuring that at all times that the service continues to provide a high level of safety and assurance to not only our in-patient population but patients choosing to self-treat within their homes. This will be done through the development of close working relationships with both patients, their carers and ensuring the effective performance and maintenance of our water testing program. The post holder will ensure at all times that UHB meet their commitment to both continue best practice and national standards. Within this varied interesting roll the post holder will enjoy working across various specialties including ITU, within other local Trusts while assisting the wider technical team in the completing the tasks including the removal/swapping of equipment from patients' homes, delivering stock across our dialysis satellite clinics and provide general assistance across the renal program when required.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
*G.C.S.E. (Grade C or above)or equivalent in Mathematics and English *Computer literate with experience of working with spreadsheets and databases *Evidence of completion of Level 3 Qualification or above in Health / Social Care or 2 A levels or equivalent relevant experience
Experience Essential
*Able to communicate basic technical data both orally and electronically *Ability to interpret data, form a judgment and take appropriate action. *Able to identify when personal limitations have been reached and able to approach peers or manager for advice. *An ability to ensure targets are met by managing own time and workload effectively.
Desirable
*Previous experience of working within the NHS. *Be able to demonstrate through experience and knowledge of aseptic techniques.
Additional Criteria Essential
*Able to maintain through training and research a knowledge of legislation governing the quality of water used in the treatment of renal patients *Organisational, Communication and Problem solving *Computer literate with standard IT / keyboard skills *Be confident in their ability to work alone. *An enthusiasm for the content of the post. *A self-motivated proactive person. *An understanding of confidentiality in the NHS. *Be aware of Health and safety regulations and work with own safety and that of others in mind. *Since the duties of the post require lifting and transporting equipment and supplies the need for fitness and an excellent health record are essential *Full United Kingdom Driving Licence.
