Job summary
We are looking for an Environmental Waste Services Officer to join our team.
This is a part time post of 15 hours per week, working Saturday and Sunday 07:00 - 15:00
The successful candidate will be self motivated, with excellent team working and communication skills. Experience of working with the public is essential.
Experience of waste management/handling would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job
Main duties are to ensure the day to day handling and disposal of waste is in accordance with approved practices. The Environmental Services Officer will be employed to cover any post on any shift in the team. They will collect waste and/or laundry from areas around the Trust and transport it to the Trust's Waste Transfer Stations or waste storage points.
You will join an integrated team whose role is to provide the best possible service to the Trust.

Job description Job responsibilities
Collect all hospital waste and laundry in accordance with the schedules set by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
Segregate, transport and process specific categories of waste as dictated by the Trusts Policy for the Management of Waste.
To operate the Trusts electric vehicles, bulk waste compaction machines.
To ensure that all aspects of the Waste Permit Conditions are adhered to.
Place specific categories of waste in the appropriate skip for off site disposal or recycling, as indicated by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
Cleaning of bulk waste storage areas and waste containers as per schedule determined by the Environmental Services Supervisor.
Carry out external environmental duties, as per schedule including the collection of litter, emptying of bins.
Carry out inspections of all mobile equipment used.
Follow the incident reporting procedure in the event of accidents occurring during environmental activities.
To carry out any other duties, appropriate to the role, as may be delegated.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Working as part of a team. Working with the public.
Desirable
Experience of waste management / handling activities. Experience of operating electric vehicles or other plant.
Qualifications Essential
GCSE or other qualifications/equivalent Electric Vehicle Driver License or pass an electric vehicle course
Desirable
Environmental qualifications. Full Clean UK Drivers Licence
Skills Essential
Have good verbal communication skills
