Job summary

The Band 7 Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) at Whipps Cross Hospital is a senior clinical and leadership role within the Emergency Department. The post holder works autonomously at an advanced level, assessing and managing patients within the Minor Injuries Unit while providing safe, evidence-based care and making independent clinical decisions. The role also involves leading and supporting the nursing and multidisciplinary team, managing staffing and service delivery, mentoring and educating colleagues, contributing to audit and quality improvement, and maintaining high standards of clinical governance and patient safety.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will provide enthusiastic, passionate and innovative Nursing team leadership, demonstrating outstanding evidence based clinical practice and leadership within the multi-professional team, combined with clear and effective operational/resource management. Will manage and develop patient care in minor injuries unit autonomously.

The post holder is responsible for the safe and effective running of the minor injury's unit service provision whilst on duty. -Provides education, expertise and mentorship to peers -Undertakes audit

Job description Job responsibilities

Leadership & Management Passionately lead, develop and support the nursing staff and MDT within the EmergencyDepartment. Create innovative ways to ensure individual staff develop their potential, work inpartnership to create a team atmosphere where workforce, culture, engagement,empowerment and well-being is at the forefront of decisions. Create and maintain honest and effective relationships with all staff groups, ensuring thedepartment is a collaborative team, working in partnership with inter-professional teamsand other allied services to meet the needs of your team and families. Be part of the clinical management team ensuring the delivery of high quality and timelypatient care. Facilitate the sharing of knowledge amongst department staff of developments within theservice as well as the Trust as a whole. Ensure staff are working within the boundaries of Trust and National policies andguidelines. Manage the budget by ensuring that the best service is provided with the resourcesavailable. Be proactive in identifying safe and effective Cost Improvement Schemes whilstmaintaining safety and quality. Liaise, communicate and regularly meet with the Matron/s on all matters relating to areasof responsibility. Participate in recruitment and selection of staff. Contributes to the development of competencies, working in partnership with the PracticeDevelopment Team so that nursing as a whole is skilled and developed. Audit department processes and procedures include the use of equipment, ensuring thesafety of staff, patients and visitors. Implement and maintain quality initiatives to monitor the standards of care and local andNational guidelines and recommendations and contribute to Clinical Audit. Attend relevant meetings within the Service and the Trust ensuring that all staff are awareand pro-actively contribute towards the strategic direction of the Service. Establish and maintain systems for Individual Performance Review and cascade it to allmembers of the team ensuring that each nurse has a Personal Development Plan whichis regularly reviewed. Provide written reports, accounts and/or statements that contribute to investigations andimprovement.

Qualifications and Knowledge Essential

Minor illness Minor injury Physical assessment. Non medical prescriber. Non medical prescriber. Degree or equivalent and relevant experience RN ALS or equivalent.
