About this role

Job summary

If you are enthusiastic, caring, proactive, willing to work hard then a job in AMU is the right Staff Nurse post for you to apply to do. We need team members who will care for all our patients with compassion and with understanding of their care needs.

We admit patients from the Emergency Department and after initial assessment by our fantastic team of Acute Physicians, they may be referred for specialist treatments and / or care in other wards. AMU is a fantastic unit to be able to gain a broad range of experience ; to either persue a career in acute medical nursing or to provide you with the knowledge to want to learn more about other specialist areas of nursing.

Main duties of the job

To work as the registered nurse in the delivery of direct and indirect patient care.

oAct on any concerns to be raised, relating to standards of cleanliness, hazards and patient safety within the clinical area

oTo ensure the nursing and medical team are regularly updated on patients' condition and progress

oTo ensure the equipment is clean and in good working order and that damaged or faulty equipment is reported correctly to the team

oTo ensure the environment is clean and tidy

oTo participate with the induction of staff new to the clinical area

oTo minimise hazards in the working area and report any identifiable hazards to the ward sister. To adhere to all safe systems of work applicable to the work area

oTo demonstrate effective communication, both orally and in writing, to ensure dissemination of information

oTo maintain confidentiality at all times

oTo promote awareness of child protection issues referring to area child protection policy and Trust policy. Attend child protection training in accordance with the policy

oTo promote awareness of adult protection issues referring to the Herefordshire Multi-Agency Policy and Procedures for The Protection of Vulnerable Adults from Abuse. Attend adult protection training sessions in accordance with the policies and procedures.
