About this role

Job summary

The Physiotherapy (PT) Team Lead will be responsible for providing a highly specialised Physiotherapy service to a highly complex caseload of residents with neurological and related respiratory conditions at Castel Froma Neuro Care. The PT Team Lead will act as a role model for clinical and professional leadership and will ensure that high standards are achieved to provide the best evidence-based practice for all residents.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Therapy Manager on the planning, development and evaluation of the Physiotherapy service within an interdisciplinary team at Castel Froma Neuro Care across both sites; Being professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, this includes clinical, managerial and professional duties; Taking an active role in the development of other staff members/students to continually improve practice of the service as a whole;

About us

Castel Froma Neuro Care runs two care centre sites, Lillington House and Helen Ley House for those with neurological conditions and brain injury.

We provide 24 hour nursing care as well as therapies. Staff at CFNC work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) which involves bring together professionals of different backgrounds to work as a team in devising and implementing care packages to meet the individual needs and requirements of each resident.

Job description Job responsibilities

Taking a lead role with support from the Therapy Manager in the organisation of neurological physiotherapy provided at Castel Froma Neuro Care; Assisting the Therapy Manager with the recruitment of staff and support with development of staff members currently working within the service; Providing clinical supervision and appraisals to Physiotherapists and ensuring all Therapy Assistants have supervision and appraisals; Leading the Physiotherapy team with the day-to-day service, managing annual leave and staff absence, to ensure the service is safe and efficient; To prioritise, assess and manage own patient caseload demonstrating enhanced skills and knowledge in neurological practice. Ability to work clinically without direct supervision while being able to appropriately raise key safety and clinical risks or concerns; Critically evaluate and apply effective and evidence-based treatments and supported others to do the same, identifying and utilising evidence-based outcome measures appropriate for the residents at Castel Froma Neuro Care; Manage and enable risk within your scope of practice in an unpredictable environment with complex neurological conditions; To ensure that all records are maintained and stored confidentially and in line with GDPR and HCPC requirements; To work holistically as part of an integrated interdisciplinary team To follow Castel Froma Neuro Cares policies and procedures; Prioritising own workload and the workload of others within the PT team, through demonstration of understanding of clinical needs and risks to individuals to ensure residents psychological, social and physical needs are met as part of the wider interdisciplinary team goals; Communicating effectively and sensitively with residents, family, and colleagues whilst being able to adapt based on others backgrounds, cultural belief and preferred methods of communication; Effectively communicate complex information to residents and family members regarding PT interventions, adapting to different knowledge levels appropriate; Supporting residents throughout their intervention pathway, ensuring effective communication is maintained with all relevant stakeholders; Maintain your own continuous development of professional practice, participate in performance and development reviews, and support the development and education of others within own team and the wider interdisciplinary team; Complete clinical audits of the service and relevant service development projects to ensure an effective, efficient service is being delivered; Deputising when appropriate for the Therapy Manager or other team leads within the Therapy Department; Continuing and developing relationships with the wider services such as local NHS provisions; Ensure high standards of documentation and clinical record keeping as well as monitoring the standards of others; and Complete all mandatory training.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

1. Hold a degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent. 2. Be a member of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. 3. Be registered with The Health Professions Council.

Desirable

UK drivers licence and access to own transport

Experience Essential

1. At least 3 years' UK clinical experience working as a Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist; 2. Clinical experience of complex respiratory care, including tracheostomy and laryngectomy management, ventilator use and manual insufflation: exsufflation use; 3. Experience of leading and evaluating service development initiatives; 4. Experience of supervising other physiotherapists;
