Job summary

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will be a committed, enthusiastic and collaborative GP.

6 sessions per week. Morning and afternoons Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. Additional hours are also available for Enhanced Access cover.

As a training practice, we are looking for candidates that are comfortable supporting with the supervision of GP trainees and other MDT colleagues.

Experience of digital triage and coils/ implants useful.

Main duties of the job

Core Clinical responsibilities:Surgery consultations, triage of digital consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.

The surgery is located close to the Royal United Hospital Bath about one mile west of the city centre, close to the river.

Job description Job responsibilities

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, video consultations, telephone consultations, triage of digital consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and authorising repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion. Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation. Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems. Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness. Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols. Providing health education. Referring to other care providers as appropriate. Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards. Collecting data for audit purposes. Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible). Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate. Assist with the supervision of registrars and other health care professionals e.g. paramedics. In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Fully qualified GP, eligible to practice in the UK with GMC registration & on the Medical Performers List. Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate). Evidence of continued professional development. Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check. Excellent communication skills ( verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Good time management being able to prioritise work and work under pressure. Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork. Clinical Governance. Work with partners and practice team towards the delivery of QoF targets and other practice objectives/targets. Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork. Willingness to share and collaborate across entire primary health team. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with multidisciplinary and multi-agency teams. Ability to work flexibly. Ability to recognize own limitations and act upon them appropriately. Willingness to learn new skills and to problem solve on a daily basis. An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality. Ability to work within the changing structures of the NHS and work to the requirements of other regulatory bodies. Caring with the ability to listen and empathise. Honest, good humoured and ability to display integrity at all times. Knowledge of current guidelines. Commitment to delivering a high standard of patient centred care. Commitment to continuity of care Patient empowerment. Patient advocate UK driving licence and car owner. UK work permit (if required). MPS,MDU or MDDUS membership.
