About this role
At Ormiston Families, we believe everyone in the East of England deserves to feel happier, stronger and understood. For more than 45 years, we've been supporting children, young people and families to overcome challenges, improve emotional wellbeing and build brighter futures. Everything we do is rooted in our values of collaboration, compassion and effectiveness, and we're proud to work alongside people rather than simply for them, creating lasting change through trusted relationships, early intervention and evidence-based support.
Our people are at the heart of our success. We know that when our colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered, they can make the greatest difference to the lives of others. That's why we're committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming workplace where everyone can thrive, develop and feel proud of the impact they make. Whether you're working directly with families or supporting our services behind the scenes, you'll be part of a dedicated team that shares a common purpose: helping children, young people and families build resilience, strengthen connections and create positive, lasting change in their communities. If you're looking for a rewarding career where your skills, ideas and compassion can genuinely transform lives, we'd love you to join us.
Our Supporting Smiles service is excited to invite applications from Therapeutic Practitioners looking to further their career. We welcome applications from both qualified therapists and those approaching professional accreditation who are looking to begin their therapeutic career within a supportive and developing service.
Supporting Smiles provides professional mental health support to children and young people through our Therapeutic Pathway for 4–13-year-olds and our Children's Wellbeing Practitioner service for 5–18-year-olds. Whether children and young people live in Norfolk or Waveney, or are registered with a Norfolk or Waveney GP, we provide evidence-based therapeutic support tailored to their individual needs.
At Supporting Smiles, we believe in a needs-led approach, and our service name was co-created with the children, young people and families we support. Our multidisciplinary team includes Therapeutic Practitioners, Counsellors and Children's Wellbeing Practitioners, working together to deliver high-quality mental health support across Norfolk and Waveney.
Therapeutic support is delivered in a range of community settings, including schools, family hubs and community venues, ensuring services are accessible and responsive to the needs of children, young people and families.
As a member of Norfolk & Waveney's Children and Young People's Mental Health Alliance, we work alongside partners including The Benjamin Foundation, Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, Norfolk County Council and Cambridgeshire Community Services NHS Trust to deliver integrated, THRIVE-informed support across the Getting Advice, Getting Help, Getting More Help and Risk Support pathways.
This is an exciting time to join Supporting Smiles as we continue to develop and strengthen our service. Successful applicants will be appointed at the appropriate level based on their qualifications, professional accreditation, knowledge, skills and experience. Those who are approaching professional accreditation will receive appropriate supervision, support and development to help them progress in their career.
Salary: £27,666 or £34,467 (depending on qualifications, professional accreditation and experience), based on 37.5 hours per week, on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
Location: Norwich Hub, with travel across Norfolk and Waveney required.
