About this role

Primary Purpose Under general supervision, coordinate the proactive collection, auditing, and reporting of district Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS) data to ensure total state compliance. Utilize fundamental data analysis principles to investigate data abnormalities, identify reporting trends, and maintain accurate, auditable student and personnel records in accordance with Texas Education Agency standards. Qualification Education/Certification Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent related experience. Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to maintain accurate and auditable records. Ability to use a personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing. Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance skills. Ability to perform basic math. Ability to meet established deadlines. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions. Knowledge of student and financial information system software. Knowledge of Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS). Knowledge of the Texas Public Information Act (TPIA). Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Knowledge of fundamental principles of data analysis, including statistical and mathematical computations and measurements. Ability to interpret data. Working knowledge of database query logic and relational databases Experience: Minimum of three years of experience with student data entry and PEIMS coding Minimum of three years of experience with student enrollments, attendance, scheduling, & grading Minimum of three years of experience developing training materials Minimum of three years of experience with ERP/SIS information systems (Skyward preferred) Major Responsibilities and Duties: Records and Reports: Facilitate the collection, integration, and formatting of all data required for PEIMS submission in accordance with the Texas Education Agency's PEIMS Data Standards. Work cooperatively with campus, business office, and personnel office staff to collect, organize, and format data required to submit district PEIMS data in accordance with prescribed state deadlines. Run edits, reports, and verification checks on data to ensure accuracy. Distribute edits and reports to appropriate staff for analysis, verification, and correction. Submit complete and accurate PEIMS data in the Texas Education Agency (TEA)-prescribed format to the education service center (ESC) for processing using a computer terminal or a personal computer. Verify data submitted to TEA and submit corrections in a timely manner. Analyze and interpret data and provide clear and concise narrative and graphic explanations of data and trends. Assist users with investigating any data abnormalities and anticipate data needs. Exercise independent discretion to halt or delay inaccurate data submissions to avoid state auditing penalties. Investigate complex data anomalies and multi-year trends to provide strategic recommendations to leadership to optimize state funding. Independently audit and analyze system-wide data patterns to formulate and implement district-wide compliance and reporting procedures. Training and Technical Support: Provide training and support to campuses and to business and personnel office staff responsible for processing PEIMS data. Provide excellent customer service and support to parents, community members, district, and campus staff. Receive PEIMS-related information from ESC and TEA, attend all regional PEIMS workshops, and disseminate information to other staff in a timely manner, including updates to PEIMS Data Standards. Attend all Texas Education Agency and Regional Service Center PEIMS training sessions and disseminate information to appropriate staff. Other: Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required. Maintain confidentiality at all times. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
