TITLE: Maintenance Worker I REPORTS TO: Superintendent JOB GOAL: To help maintain the physical condition and operation of school buildings and facilities so that full educational use of it may be made at all times. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Performing unskilled to semi-skilled maintenance, repair and construction of District buildings and equipment in one or more of the building maintenance trades including locksmithing, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating and air conditioning.
• Install, adjust, repair and replace locks and door hardware; inspect locks for proper operation and implement a preventive maintenance program for locking mechanisms, panic bars, door closers and other hardware; re-key and re-pin locks as needed and maintain related charts and records.
• Operate various types of maintenance machinery, tools and equipment.
• Move furniture or equipment within, to /from buildings as required for various activities as directed by Superintendent.
• Install furniture, bookshelves, cabinets, shelving, chalkboards, projectors, bulletin boards, etc.. in classrooms and offices.
• Assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of gas and water lines, heating and cooling equipment, electrical fixtures and outlets; replace broken toilet seats, flush valve diaphragms, seals and gaskets; clean clogged drains, stop leaks, adjust water pressure and clean work area upon completion of work. Perform regular preventative maintenance (PM).
• Install, repair and replace carpet, floor and ceiling tiles, repair blinds and shades; install dispensers and repair or install bathroom stalls.
• Make minor electrical and mechanical repairs on such equipment as vacuum cleaners, buffers, electric clocks, washing machines, dryers, refrigerators and other small appliances.
• Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
• Maintain records of time, costs and materials needed in the maintenance and repair of District equipment and facilities; prepare work orders for more difficult and complex repairs or larger work projects.
• Prioritizes and completes work orders as received within the maintenance ticketing system, per process manager instructions.
• Report immediately to the Superintendent any damage to school property.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Holds a valid Driver's License.
• Holds a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Such Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Satisfactory completion of State mandated health examination.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Salary commensurate with the Fairview Independent Schools Classified Salary Schedule
• Work schedule to be established by Maintenance Supervisor and/or Superintendent
