About this role

Job Goal: The Parent Coordinator works in collaboration with the school principal and staff to actively engage families in the school community. This role is focused on building and maintaining strong partnerships among families, teachers, students, and community organizations to support student achievement and well-being. Qualifications:

• Minimum of 48 college credit hours or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.

• Bilingual with proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing (Spanish preferred).

• Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

• Experience working with diverse populations and understanding their needs.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.

• Flexible schedule, including availability for early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Act as a liaison between families and school staff, including social workers, teachers, and administrators.

• Translate oral and written communications for parents.

• Make phone calls and conduct home visits as necessary.

• Schedule and coordinate translators for parent-teacher conferences.

• Communicate student and family needs and concerns with appropriate school staff.

• Collaborate with the principal to plan and organize family engagement events such as:

• Open House / Back-to-School Picnics

• Math and Reading Nights

• Parent Information Workshops (e.g., state testing, academic support, technology use)

• Parent classroom visits and school lunches

• Monthly student recognition assemblies

• Partner with local community agencies to connect families with support services and resources.

• Work with school leadership to review and revise the School Parent Engagement Policy and School-Parent Compact annually.

• Conduct parent surveys to help determine family engagement goals and improve programming.

• Promote a welcoming, inclusive school environment for all families.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator(s).

Working Conditions:

• School-based environment with regular interaction with students, parents, and staff.

• Requires travel within the district and occasional home visits.

• Extended hours during events or busy periods.
