About this role
A Paraprofessional in the Multiple Disabilities (MD) classroom supports the teacher and other staff in providing individualized instructional, behavioral, personal care, and supervisory assistance to students with a variety of learning and support needs. This position works directly with students individually and in small groups to reinforce instruction, promote independence, encourage positive behavior, and support a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment. Responsibilities include:
• Assist the classroom teacher with instructional activities and individualized learning opportunities.
• Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to students based on their individual needs.
• Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior plans, and other student support plans as directed.
• Assist students with developing independence, communication, social skills, and daily living skills.
• Provide personal care and physical assistance to students as needed, which may include toileting, feeding, mobility, and other daily living needs.
• Assist with positioning, transferring, and supporting student mobility as needed and in accordance with training and established procedures.
• Supervise and support students during classroom instruction, transitions, arrival and dismissal, lunch, recess, and other school activities.
• Maintain documentation and collect student data as required.
• Help create and maintain a safe, positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.
• Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and other staff members to support student growth and success.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
