QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:
• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Texas Food Handler Certification required
• Food Safety Certification preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation, and short-order cooking
• Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and point-of-sale (POS) systems
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Experience:
• Minimum of one (1) year experience in food service or kitchen environment preferred
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 230 days Full-time position. Schedule may include early mornings, occasional evenings, and special events. SALARY/PAY GRADE: $17.36/NS3 Salary as set by the Board of Trustees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Prepare and cook food using short-order and batch cooking methods while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation standards
• Assist with food preparation, portioning, storage, and adherence to recipes and food safety guidelines
• Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders, answering questions, and operating POS systems as needed
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, dining areas, and dishwashing operations in accordance with health and safety standards
• Assist with catering preparation, packaging, and support for events
• Support overall café operations, including stocking supplies, monitoring inventory, and maintaining organized workspaces
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient daily operations in a fast-paced environment
• Adapt to changing operational needs and assist in multiple areas of the café as required
• Perform other duties as assigned
