About this role

Basic Function and Responsibility: Facilitates teacher-provided academic enrichment lessons and activities for Cub Club students in a safe, engaging afterschool environment. Provides supervision and classroom management while supporting student participation and positive behavior. Assists with transitions, materials and daily program routines. Position Type: Part-Time QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or GED

• Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to work well with children

• Ability to communicate effectively

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

Experience:

• 3+ years experience working with elementary aged children

Criminal Record:

• Must be able to pass a criminal background check

• Provide instruction to students; work with individual students or small groups.

• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.

• Help keep records and prepare required reports.

Student Management:

• Help supervise students throughout the afterschool program, inside and outside the classroom, including playground, and other related activities

• Keep Site Coordinator informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Professional Effectiveness:

• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.

• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned.

• Follow district policies and procedures pertaining to the job assignment.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None Working Conditions:

• Tools/Equipment Used: Computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

• Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

• Motion: Frequent walking

• Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment (up to 45 pounds)

• Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

• Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
