POSITION REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Child Welfare and Attendance / Supervisor of Special Education PAY GRADE: T-1
FLSA STATUS: Exempt ASSIGNMENT PERIOD 182 Days
II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE Develops and implements an instructional program which meets the needs of hospital/homebound students. III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – Bachelor's degree. Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate. Additional criteria as established by the School Board. IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Designs a program that meets the individual needs of hospital/homebound students by developing an appropriate Individualized Education Program in accordance with State Department of Education guidelines.
• Contacts parents, regular classroom teachers, administrators, and other appropriate personnel to participate in the development of the Individualized Education Program within specified timelines.
• Implements lesson plans to meet the individual needs of hospital/homebound students in accordance with Individualized Education programs.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual students.
• Assesses student progress on a regular basis and sends progress reports to school/parents at the conclusion of hospital/homebound program or with report cards.
• Implements ESY screening procedures, completes appropriate paperwork and maintains documentation in accordance with guidelines.
• Completes all reports and paperwork accurately and within prescribed timelines. Maintain records as required by state, local and federal policies and procedures.
• Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students and their parents.
• Implements the Louisiana Components of Effective Teaching in all teaching-learning situations.
• Participates in all in-service training as well as other professional growth and development activities.
• Collaborates with classroom teachers and other staff members to plan and implement appropriate programming and record keeping for hospital/homebound students.
• Plans instructional program with other faculty as appropriate.
• Assists in upholding and enforcing administrative regulations and school board policies.
• Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external customers including students, parents, co-workers, etc. Schedules and/or attends conferences with parents. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships and to ensure that student and employee records confidentiality is assured.
• Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance, e.g. expense management. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
• Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.
• Performs other duties as required.

• Supervision of students between classes, during recess/intermission, during lunch, assemblies
• Supervision of students after school and/or pick-up, when assigned
• Non-instructional Components
• Attend meetings generally associated with the instructions of students
• Attend faculty, staff, and department meetings
• Attend training sessions
• Attend IEP meetings
• Attend parent-teacher conferences
• Attend back-to-school and open-house events
• Attend graduation
• Attend PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings
• Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request
• Extracurricular Activities
• Attend/work concessions/gates of no more than 15 athletic events per school year as requested by the principal or designee
• Attend all meetings and functions of those activities, clubs, or groups of which the employee is a sponsor
