POSITION REPORTS TO: Director / Supervisor of Special Education PAY GRADE: T-1

FLSA STATUS: Exempt ASSIGNMENT PERIOD 182 days

II. SUMMARY OF POSITION'S PURPOSE Providing educationally relevant Physical therapy services to special education students with developmental and/or physical motor impairments to maximize independence and allow optimal participation in all functional educational activities in accordance to the students' IEP. III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION – Verification of valid Physical Therapist licensure by the Louisiana Physical Therapy Board. Additional criteria as established by the School Board. IV. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Screens and evaluates students for physical therapy (PT) eligibility in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the state department of education.

• Completes all reports and paperwork accurately and within timelines and maintains records as required by local, state, and federal policies and procedures.

• Collaborates with teachers to develop IEPs and participate in IEP conferences.

• Provides therapeutic intervention to the student and provides consultation and supervision for educational personnel implementing these interventions according to the student's educational plan.

• Monitors student's progress on a regular basis and provides input on integrated goals on the progress reports.

• Documents PT services to ensure accountability of service provision and to meet standards for reimbursement of services as appropriate.

• Provides individualized assistance and/or in-service training to educational personnel and/or the student's caregivers.

• Selects, maintains, and fabricates necessary adaptive equipment to meet the student's educational needs.

• Participates in professional growth and development activities relevant to PT in the school system.

• Maintains communication with appropriate medical personnel.

• Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and school board policies.

• Provides professional, courteous, and prompt service to all internal and external persons including students, parents, co-workers, etc.

• Schedules and/or attends conferences with parents. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional manner to develop cooperative relationships.

• Maintains student and employee confidentiality.

• Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work process and financial performance. Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

• Assists co-workers in the completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service. Orients new co-workers and actively supports teamwork throughout the school system.

• Performs other duties as required.

Teachers shall be expected to perform the following duties, along with the completion of corresponding documents, forms, and reports:

• Fulfill duties traditionally expected of those in supervisory positions

• Grade papers

• Take and record attendance

• Enter/Average grades

• Maintain positive and timely interaction with parents relative to the performance or conduct of students assigned to the teacher

• Supervision

• Supervision of students when students are on or off campus at a school related/sponsored event

• Supervision of students prior to school and/or drop-off, when assigned

• Supervision of students in the classroom

• Supervision of students between classes, during recess/intermission, during lunch, assemblies

• Supervision of students after school and/or pick-up, when assigned

• Non-instructional Components

• Attend meetings generally associated with the instructions of students

• Attend faculty, staff, and department meetings

• Attend training sessions

• Attend IEP meetings

• Attend parent-teacher conferences

• Attend back-to-school and open-house events

• Attend graduation

• Attend PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings

• Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request

• Extracurricular Activities

• Attend/work concessions/gates of no more than 15 athletic events per school year as requested by the principal or designee

• Attend all meetings and functions of those activities, clubs, or groups of which the employee is a sponsor
