About this role

***GRANBURY ISD requires three references from former employers, college professors, supervisors, etc. with at least a minimum of two references being from previous supervisors. Granbury ISD will not accept references from friends or family members.*** Contract days: 172 days PRIMARY PURPOSE Provide consistent instructional support to students by serving as the campus's permanent substitute when classroom coverage is needed and providing targeted instructional support when substitute coverage is not required. Under the direction of campus administration and certified teachers, support student learning through classroom, individual, and small-group instruction aligned to district curriculum, campus instructional priorities, and identified student needs. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Certification:

• High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate

• Substitute Training

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

• Ability to work well with children

• Ability to communicate effectively

Experience:

• Preferred classroom experience

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Substitute Instructional Coverage

• Serve as the campus's permanent substitute when classroom coverage is needed.

• Provide instruction and maintain continuity of learning using district curriculum, instructional materials, and lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher.

• Follow established classroom procedures and instructional expectations to support student learning and achieve lesson goals.

• Provide clear directions, explain assignments, monitor student understanding, and assist students with assigned learning activities.

• Maintain an orderly, safe, and academically focused classroom environment.

• Take attendance and maintain appropriate documentation regarding student learning, behavior, and activities completed during the teacher's absence.

• Provide the classroom teacher with relevant information regarding instruction, student progress, and classroom needs upon the teacher's return.

• Comply with all district and campus policies, procedures, and expectations while serving in a substitute assignment.

Instructional Support When substitute classroom coverage is not required, instructional support will be the employee's primary assignment based on identified student and campus needs.

• Provide targeted individual and small-group instructional support under the direction of certified teachers and campus administration.

• Support students requiring intervention, acceleration, reteach, enrichment, or additional practice in identified areas of need.

• Reinforce previously taught skills and concepts using district-approved curriculum, instructional materials, and resources.

• Assist classroom teachers with differentiated instructional support during core instruction, intervention, enrichment, or other designated instructional periods.

• Work with identified students to support academic progress and campus achievement goals.

• Assist with progress monitoring and maintain documentation of instructional support provided as directed by campus administration.

• Collaborate with teachers and campus administration to identify instructional priorities and determine appropriate student support.

Student Management

• Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom, as assigned.

• Maintain student behavior and reinforce campus expectations to provide a safe and productive learning environment.

• Make the appropriate teacher or campus administrator aware of special needs, concerns, or problems involving individual students.

Other

• Participate in staff development and training programs to improve job performance and strengthen the employee's ability to provide effective instructional support.

• Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

• Maintain confidentiality and comply with district policies regarding student information.

• Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the primary purpose and responsibilities of the position.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None Mental Demands/Physical/Environmental Factors: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping Motion: Moderate walking Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress Length of Work Day: May be less than 8 hours, depending on campus assignment, but will be recognized as a full work day if entire assignment is fulfilled.
