POSITION: Elementary Science Lab Teacher LOCATION: Cherryvale Elementary QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree or above. Must have a valid South Carolina teacher's certificate in Elementary Education or appropriate Science certification. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students and aligns with the South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Science Standards. • Establishes clear objectives for all laboratory and classroom activities and communicates these objectives to students. • Develops and implements engaging, inquiry-based science lessons and laboratory experiences that promote scientific thinking, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. • Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies, technology, and instructional materials appropriate for elementary science instruction. • Differentiates instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students. • Maintains a safe, organized, and effective science laboratory environment and ensures proper care, storage, and use of laboratory materials and equipment. • Teaches and reinforces appropriate laboratory safety procedures and ensures students follow established safety expectations. • Collaborates with classroom teachers to support and enhance science instruction and promote cross-curricular connections. • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulations. • Strives to implement through instruction and action the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. • Participates in faculty meetings, professional learning, and other school and district activities as assigned. • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. TERMS: 190 days. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
