Salary Range: $18 per hour Hours per week: Part Time - Temporary
Job Summary: The on-call custodian will provide district-wide coverage for custodial shifts as needed, including during call-outs, vacations, summer projects and yearly events, and will support special projects involving the maintenance and improvement of facilities and grounds throughout the Westerly Public School District. Ensuring a result that will give a safe, attractive, and clean environment for students, staff and citizens to use each day. Responsibilities:
• Maintain district buildings in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition, including classrooms, corridors, stairwells, and restrooms.
• Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors; empty trash and recycling bins; wipe down desks, whiteboards, and high-touch surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, mirrors, and partitions; restock soap, paper towels, and toilet paper daily.
• Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school activities and events.
• Perform minor preventive maintenance inside buildings as directed.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Experience:
• 1 years in a custodial capacity in the private or public sector or maintenance worker in a school system preferred.
• Knowledge of the materials, methods, implements and devices used in cleaning operations and the care of custodial equipment preferred.
• Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Physical Requirements:
• Lifting and carrying, up to fourty-five(45) pounds to perform moderately heavy, manual labor.
• Bending, stooping, reaching above shoulder level and climbing and descending stairs and ladders.
