About this role
The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in implementing classroom curriculum and creating a safe, nurturing environment for young children. This position requires active engagement with students, co-workers, and administrative staff to ensure high-quality care and education. Key Responsibilities Classroom & Instructional Support
• Curriculum Support: Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing materials and executing developmentally appropriate projects and activities.
• Student Engagement: Promote positive self-esteem and foster a welcoming, relaxing atmosphere for children in both classroom and lunchroom settings.
• General Supervision: Assist in daily classroom oversight, supporting teachers and students wherever help is needed.
Safety, Attendance, & Health
• Attendance Tracking: Assist in recording student attendance to ensure an accurate head count of children in direct care at all times.
• Environment & Safety: Maintain a clean, safe classroom environment and promptly report broken equipment to the Director.
• Incident Reporting: Immediately report any accidents or incidents to the Lead Teacher and complete necessary incident reports.
• Bus & Playground Duty:
• Escort children to and from school buses as needed.
• Actively supervise children during outdoor playground time, maintaining designated positions to ensure total area coverage.
Operations & Routine Care
• Mealtime Assistance: Support staff and children during snack time and lunch in the cafeteria.
• Facility Upkeep: Partner with co-workers to clean and sanitize preschool areas, ensuring facilities are left clean and organized.
• Resource Management: Care for equipment and classroom supplies responsibly and conservatively.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support program needs.
