About this role
Overall Purpose Under the supervision of the Director of Facilities, the Lead Grounds Keeper is responsible for the care and maintenance of all facility grounds. This role requires proficiency in using landscaping and grounds equipment, as well as yard tools. The Lead Grounds Keeper supervises the groundskeeping team, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and according to instructions. Essential Functions
• Prepare facility grounds for special events, such as graduations, open houses, the first day of school, and sporting events.
• Develop and maintain a schedule to meet all required facility dates.
• Create an annual landscape maintenance work plan, including areas like detention ponds.
• Collaborate with groundskeepers to enhance their skills and extend the life of equipment.
• Maintain and repair landscape equipment.
• Requisition supplies and equipment through the logistics office.
• Supervise groundskeepers, including scheduling for facility mowing and grounds maintenance.
• Prepare and maintain various records and reports.
• Operate a variety of equipment, such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, and other necessary landscaping tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned to accomplish project objectives, both indoors and outdoors.
• Communicate effectively, model and uphold high ethical standards, adhere to attendance and dress rules, and maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
Requirements High School Diploma or GED Certificate preferred. Valid Georgia driver's license. Physical Requirements Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force as needed to move objects. Education/Training General knowledge of landscaping methods and plant types. Minimum of 2 years of management experience. At least 3 years of experience in grounds work.
