SOUTH LAKE SCHOOLS VACANCY NOTICE TO: All Staff FROM: Human Resources DATE: August 19, 2026 RE: Assignment Opportunity LITERACY INTERVENTION SPECIALIST Job Goal: To create and maintain a safe, caring, learning environment for elementary school students and facilitate their learning within the classroom environment. To assist in the administration and interpretation of assessments for “at-risk” students. To consistently evaluate students' learning outcomes and his/her own effectiveness. To provide support to teachers during academic interventions. Help to develop and improve the intervention programs. Assist in the collection and analysis of building data and creation of building wide data reports. Participate in data dialogues with staff to review data, plan interventions, and monitor progress of identified students.
Department: Instruction and Pupil Services Reports to: Building Principal Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree required (preferred concentration in child development or pre-education), Michigan Teacher Certification preferred
• Successful demonstration of reading and writing literacy
• Experience working with elementary-aged children
• A warm, caring, child-centered attitude
• Demonstrated ability to organize and maintain records
• Educational philosophy compatible with program philosophy
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate preferred
• Experience working with elementary “at-risk” learners preferred
• Such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent or her designee may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
• Participate in training and in-service sessions, as assigned
• Assess targeted students
• Keep records on targeted students, including progress in skill areas and assessments of individual student's progress
• Help students master the use of instructional materials
• Prepare intervention materials as needed for use with students
• Attend parent orientations and any other meetings with parents as directed by the principal
• Attend staff meetings and PLCs as directed by the principal
• Maintain compliance to all FERPA and HIPPA laws
Duties & Responsibilities Include (continued):
• Work collaboratively with teachers and principals to coordinate services
• Provide direct service to identified learners in grades K-5
• Participate in an annual evaluation process directed by the building principal
• Only performs duties aligned with federal Title I regulations
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
