ABOUT PARKWAY-ROCKWOOD COMMUNITY ED: Parkway-Rockwood Community Ed is a partnership of the Parkway and Rockwood School Districts that provides high-quality programs that enhance the quality of life for residents. $21.00 per hour Schedule varies by shift POSITION SUMMARY: Supervise Community Education youth sports programs. Position is critical for communicating and enforcing the department's rules and regulations for youth sports. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Monitor spectator conduct at youth sport events.
• Assist custodian at the location in setting up equipment for the specific activity.
• Understand program guidelines when interacting with spectators and volunteer coaches as required.
• Record scores of contest and maintain records of part-time employee's hours that operate timing equipment. Report employee hours to Supervisor of Community Education. Contact part- time employees if late to work.
• Report referees' attendance to Supervisor of Community Education for reimbursement. Contact referee if late for contest.
• Communicate incidents from scheduled contest to Supervisor of Community Education that involve participates, spectators, and volunteer parents.
• Address issues or concerns before, during, after contest as relates to the rules that govern the sport and resolve the matter that brought on issue or concern.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Community Education Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Effective verbal communications skills.
• Ability to interact with parents and volunteer coaches.
• Ability to work flexible hours plus weekends.
• Ability to bend, twist, and manipulate equipment, supplies.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• Extensive knowledge of the rules and regulations of the sport being supervised. Coach, official or previous participant in sport preferred.
• Requires positive human relation skills to interact with students, parents and staff.
• Minimum two years completed college coursework or two years of professional work experience preferred.
EQUIPMENT USED:
• General sports equipment; tables/chairs
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• At assigned Parkway and Rockwood locations; outside of school buildings as needed, which may include during inclement weather.
• Ability to travel throughout the Districts and work non-traditional hours when required which may include nights and weekends.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, hear, walk, stand and reach.
