• Complete daily tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor. • Operate cargo-carrying vehicles, owned or leased by the Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education, in a safe, efficient, economical manner. • Receive, store, and disburse materials as directed. • Act as a proper role model for staff and students at all times. • Attend required professional development activities. • Perform duties in a professional manner and in accordance with Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education policies and procedures. • Perform other duties as assigned which reasonably relate to the general scope of the job description.

Essential Functions of Position

• Receive, inspect, move and distribute, as well as possess knowledge of appropriate storage and timely rotation of district resources. • Follow written directions, write legibly, and complete reports, using current computer hardware and software, if necessary. • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. • Accept direction and suggestions from immediate supervisor. • Work with immediate supervisor and staff to establish priorities, work schedules, and to coordinate activities for greater efficiency. • Skill in careful, safe, smooth driving techniques for proper and prompt delivery of materials and supplies. • Knowledge of the geographic layout of the school district. • Possess strong interpersonal skills while working with students, parents, and staff in a positive public relations mode.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Qualities to Perform Essential Functions

• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. • Possess the mechanicals skills necessary to maintain the district resources in good working order. • Additional requirements for each level: • Material Handler I: Must maintain a good driving record (abstract) with no unreasonable points charged against the license and must be insurable by the Board of Education's adopted carrier at all times. • Material Handler II: Must meet Material Handler I requirements (Aslisted above in C.1.); must hold a valid Ohio Commercial Driver's License (CDL); must pass random drug testing.

• Obtain a health certificate, if required. • Proficiency in reading, math, oral and written communications. • Use proper equipment and/or teamwork to move items or articles over 75 pounds. • Must pass required physical examination. • Perform duties under the direction of immediate supervisor. • Remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.

• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach and lift with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some travel abilities are required. • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. • The position requires the individual to be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints, to prioritize which needs are to be fulfilled first, interact with the public, students, and other staff, meet demands from several people, and the ability to work alone. Evaluation The Material Handler will have his/her performance evaluated at least annually by the immediate supervisor to whom assigned in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education, the Mentor Classified Employees Association, and the Ohio Revised Code. Terms of Employment The number of days and number of hours per day to be determined in accordance with the negotiated agreement between the Mentor Exempted Village Board of Education and the Mentor Classified Employees Association.
