Columbus Catholic High School Assistant Cross Country Coach The mission of the Cedar Valley Catholic Schools is to provide an exceptional Catholic education to every student built on the foundation of faith, discipline, knowledge and service. Overview: Columbus Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Cross Country Coach to join our athletic department. The candidate will assist the Head Cross Country Coach in all aspects of coaching, training, and managing the cross country team. This role involves a combination of teaching, mentoring, and administrative responsibilities aimed at developing players' skills, fostering a positive team culture, and promoting sportsmanship. Responsibilities: Coaching and Training:
• Assist in planning and conducting practices and training sessions.
• Implement drills and exercises to develop athletes' skills, fitness, and tactical understanding.
• Provide individual and group coaching to enhance athletes' performance.
• Support the Head Coach in developing event strategies and analyzing opponent tactics.
Game Management:
• Assist in meet or event preparations, including equipment setup and athlete readiness.
• Participate in coaching during meets, offering strategic insights and adjustments.
• Support team travel arrangements and ensure the safety and well-being of athletes.
Athlete Development:
• Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes.
• Foster a positive team culture and promote sportsmanship and teamwork.
• Address individual athlete needs and concerns, offering guidance and mentorship.
Administrative Duties:
• Help manage team logistics, including schedules, travel, and equipment.
• Maintain records related to athlete performance, attendance, and compliance.
• Support fundraising efforts and community outreach programs.
Qualifications:
• Active coaching license or able to obtain one by the start of the season.
• Previous coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
• Knowledge of track rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a coaching team.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Knowledge of high school athletic regulations and compliance.
