About this role
Position: Instructional Paraprofessional (Academic Tutor) Qualifications: Applicants must possess a minimum an Associate's Degree or 60 college credits from an accredited college or university OR an appropriate score on the WorkKeys or Paraprofessional tests to meet the Highly Qualified requirement of the Every Student Succeeds Act; such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. Reports To: Principal Length of Service: 185 days Rate of Pay: Based upon credentials and experience in accordance with the district-approved pay schedule. Performance Responsibilities:
• Provides individualized instruction to identified students and small groups who are experiencing difficulty in reading and mathematics under the supervision of a properly-certified teacher. • Assists the teacher with planning instructional activities that meet students' individual needs, interests, and abilities in reading and mathematics. • Advises teachers about students' progress throughout the course of intervention. • Helps to retrieve the performance data of students being served so teachers could analyze it to evaluate intervention effectiveness and determine progress. • Helps to maintain and oversee a positive learning environment under the direction of a properly-certified teacher. • Works with others consistently in a cooperative and respectful manner. Terms: Salary and work year to be recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board. Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Sumter School Board policy.
