Our Child Nutrition team plays an essential role in that mission by ensuring students have access to safe, nutritious meals each school day. Position Overview The Child Nutrition Driver supports the daily operation of the Santa Fe South Child Nutrition program by safely and efficiently transporting food, supplies, equipment, and other materials between the district warehouse and school sites. This position is responsible for maintaining an organized and accurate delivery system, assisting with warehouse operations and inventory, and ensuring food and supplies are transported and stored according to safety and sanitation requirements. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-conscious, and committed to providing excellent service to school-based Child Nutrition teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Transportation & Delivery
• Safely operate district vehicles to transport food, supplies, equipment, and other Child Nutrition materials to SFS school sites.
• Load and unload food, supplies, and equipment while ensuring items are handled safely and delivered to the appropriate location.
• Follow established delivery routes and schedules while responding appropriately to changing departmental needs.
• Maintain district vehicles in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
• Communicate vehicle maintenance or safety concerns promptly and assist with coordinating routine service and maintenance.
Warehouse & Inventory
• Receive and inspect incoming food, supplies, and USDA commodities and verify deliveries against purchase orders or other documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of items received, distributed, and stored.
• Organize and rotate warehouse inventory using appropriate food-storage practices.
• Assist with regular inventory of food and non-food items.
• Maintain an orderly, clean, and safe warehouse, including sweeping, mopping, removing trash, and organizing storage areas.
• Monitor and document freezer and cooler temperatures as required.
Food Safety & Department Support
• Follow all applicable food safety, sanitation, storage, and transportation procedures.
• Protect food and supplies from contamination, damage, and temperature-related concerns during storage and transportation.
• Follow district safety procedures when lifting, loading, unloading, and operating vehicles or equipment.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with Child Nutrition staff, school employees, vendors, and other district personnel.
• Assist the Child Nutrition department with additional operational needs as assigned.

Identifies problems early, communicates concerns, and works with supervisors to find practical solutions. Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable under district requirements.
• Ability to safely operate district delivery vehicles and equipment used in warehouse and delivery operations.
• Ability to read and follow delivery instructions, purchase orders, basic maps/routes, labels, and safety procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills necessary for counting inventory, verifying quantities, and completing routine records.
• Ability to communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and supervisors.
• Previous delivery, warehouse, food service, or related experience preferred.
Physical & Working Conditions This position requires regular physical activity associated with warehouse and delivery operations, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading food and supplies. The employee must be able to safely move and transport heavy or bulky items and operate equipment necessary to perform assigned duties. Work may occur indoors and outdoors and may involve exposure to changing temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer environments, as well as dust, fumes, and other conditions associated with warehouse and delivery operations. Terms of Employment Contract: 190 days annually Schedule: Established according to Child Nutrition department needs Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Santa Fe South Charter Schools policies and procedures. Compensation & Benefits Compensation is established according to the applicable Santa Fe South Charter Schools salary schedule and the employee's verified experience.
