Job summary

The Quality & Governance Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring Skylight Psychiatry maintains the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance as the organisation continues to grow. Reporting to the Senior Management Team (SMT), this hands-on leadership position is responsible for developing and maintaining effective governance frameworks, supporting regulatory readiness, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and accountability across the service.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will lead and oversee the organisation's quality and governance arrangements, including audit programmes, incident management, complaints oversight, risk management, and regulatory compliance. They will support CQC inspection readiness, monitor governance performance, produce reports for senior leaders and the Board, and ensure lessons learned from audits, incidents, and complaints are implemented across the organisation. Working closely with clinical, operational, and corporate teams, the Quality & Governance Lead will drive quality improvement initiatives and promote a positive, proportionate approach to governance.

Quality & Governance Lead - Healthcare

Reports to: SMT

Salary: £50,000-£55,000 per annum, with flexibility up to £60,000 for an exceptional candidate.

Location: Basingstoke - Hybrid (mainly remote with occasional travel to office/meetings as required)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

We are a CQC registered service delivering person-centred assessment, care and support, with our ultimate aim being to improve the lives of people with neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD, Autism and Learning disabilities.

Role PurposeWe are looking for an experienced Quality & Governance professional to help us maintain high standards of quality, safety and regulatory compliance as Skylight Psychiatry expands its services. This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, working collaboratively and turning governance requirements into proportionate, workable processes.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain and develop the companys quality and governance framework.

Provide the framework and oversight for organisational audit activity, supporting teams with audit structure, templates, reporting, actions and recommendations, and ensuring learning is shared and followed through.

Support CQC compliance, inspection readiness and other regulatory or commissioner assurance requirements.

Oversee incident reporting and investigation, ensuring incidents are appropriately reviewed, actions are tracked, themes are identified and organisational learning is evidenced and shared.

Oversee complaint escalations and appeals, ensuring complex or significant matters are reviewed appropriately and learning is identified.

Maintain oversight of organisational risks and support effective risk management.

Keep key policies and governance processes under review and support teams to implement them in practice.

Produce clear governance reports and provide assurance to SMT and the Board.

Support information governance, including coordinating and supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) with relevant leads, as well as safety and business continuity arrangements where required.

Work with clinical, operational and corporate teams to identify improvements and embed learning, including learning arising from incidents, complaints and audits.

Promote a positive, proportionate and learning-focused approach to quality and governance.

Person Specification

You will have:

Strong experience in quality, governance, audit or compliance within a CQC-regulated healthcare organisation.

Good working knowledge of CQC requirements and healthcare governance.

Experience of incidents or investigations, audit, risk management and quality improvement.

Strong analytical, organisational and report-writing skills.

The confidence to identify concerns and constructively challenge where needed.

The ability to take ownership while working collaboratively across different teams.

A fair, objective and evidence-led approach, with the judgement to consider different perspectives.

A pragmatic and proportionate approach to governance.
