Job summary
Old Catton Medical Practice is seeking 2 - 3 enthusiastic and committed Salaried GPs to join our established and supportive team.
These opportunities have become available following the relocation abroad of two of our GP Partners, and we are keen to recruit GPs who are looking to become part of a stable, collaborative practice with a strong focus on high-quality patient care.
We are open to discussing full-time or part-time working arrangements and are happy to consider flexible working patterns for the right candidates.
As a Salaried GP at Old Catton Medical Practice, you will provide high-quality general medical services to our registered patient population, working collaboratively with our wider multidisciplinary team which includes a variety of allied health care professionals.
Main duties of the job
The role will include:
Routine GP consultations, both face-to-face and remote where appropriate.
Duty days operating within our well controlled and long established triage system.
Management of acute and chronic conditions, supporting the success of QoF achievements with opportunistic interventions.
Appropriate prescribing and clinical decision-making.
Contribution to practice clinical meetings and service development.
Supporting continuity of care for our patients
Working collaboratively with our clinical and administrative teams.
Participation in practice systems and quality improvement initiatives.
Opportunities to undertake vasectomy depending on your training and experience.
The opportunity to mentor GP trainee's depending on your training and experience.

Old Catton is a semi-rural village to the East of Norwich, located near Norwich airport. We have a population of 8800 patient which has steadily increased and will continue to do so with planned housing developments in the area.
We can off flexible working arrangements to help with those school drop off's/pick-ups on non-duty days.

Job description Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide high-quality, evidence-based general medical services to the Practice's registered patient population, working collaboratively with GP Partners, other GPs, nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals and the wider practice team.
The postholder will be expected to contribute to the delivery of safe, effective and accessible primary care services and to participate in the ongoing development of the Practice.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have additional clinical or educational interests that could complement the existing team. GP Trainer status/experience and experience in vasectomy services would be desirable but are not essential.
Clinical Care
The postholder will:
Provide general medical services to registered patients of the Practice. Undertake face-to-face and appropriate remote consultations. Assess, diagnose and manage patients presenting with acute and chronic conditions. Provide appropriate management and follow-up of patients with long-term conditions. Undertake clinical assessments and make appropriate referrals where required. Prescribe safely and appropriately in accordance with current guidance. Recognise and appropriately manage patients who are acutely unwell. Provide appropriate preventive healthcare, health promotion and screening. Provide appropriate care for patients with complex and multiple medical conditions. Support continuity of care wherever clinically appropriate. Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and comprehensive clinical records. Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers. Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team.
Practice Responsibilities
The postholder will:
Participate in practice clinical meetings and discussions. Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement activities. Participate in significant event reviews, audits and other appropriate clinical governance processes. Contribute to the achievement of relevant practice, PCN and NHS targets where appropriate. Support implementation of national and local clinical guidance. Participate in the development and review of practice protocols and procedures. Work constructively with colleagues to improve patient services and practice systems. Contribute to the development of services in areas of particular clinical interest or expertise.
Continuing Professional Development
The postholder will:
Maintain professional competence and undertake appropriate continuing professional development. Maintain their appraisal and revalidation requirements. Keep up to date with current clinical guidance and evidence-based practice. Participate in appropriate educational and professional development activities. Maintain an appropriate portfolio of CPD and learning. Identify areas for further development through the appraisal and job-planning process.
Education and Training
The Practice is supportive of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education.
Candidates with GP Trainer status, previous experience as a GP Trainer, educational supervision experience or an interest in medical education are particularly encouraged to apply.
Subject to appropriate arrangements and Practice requirements, the postholder may have the opportunity to contribute to:
GP registrar education and supervision. Medical student teaching. Educational supervision. Practice-based teaching. Development of educational resources and learning opportunities.
Additional Clinical Interests
The Practice welcomes GPs with additional clinical interests that can complement and develop our existing services.
Experience in vasectomy services would be particularly desirable.
Depending on qualifications, experience, governance requirements and service need, there may be opportunities for the successful candidate to contribute to or develop services in this area.
Other special interests will also be considered positively.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience of working in UK general practice. Experience of managing a broad range of acute and chronic medical conditions. Experience of independent clinical decision-making. Experience of multidisciplinary team working. Understanding of the clinical and organisational requirements of modern general practice.
Desirable
Experience of undertaking minor operative procedures and/or vasectomy. Experience of mentorship of medical students and trainee GP's.
Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification. Full GMC registration. Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List. MRCGP or equivalent GP qualification. Appropriate professional indemnity arrangements. Evidence of satisfactory continuing professional development.
Desirable
Vasectomy qualification and/or practical experience. Additional GPwSI or special-interest experience.
