Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and committed Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team at St Albans Medical Group, Felling Health Centre, Gateshead.
The successful applicant will work as part of our primary care team, providing a high standard of general medical services to our practice population
We welcome applications from experienced GPs as well as newly qualified GPs. We are able to offer flexibility around the number of sessions for the right candidate.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a GP to work 4- 8 clinical sessions. We are happy to be flexible for the right candidate and are looking at someone to start November 2026.

About us
St Albans Medical Group provides high-quality, patient-centred care from our practice based within Felling Health Centre in Felling, Gateshead. We are part of East Gateshead Primary Care Network (PCN) and work collaboratively with our wider primary care team to provide comprehensive care to our local community.
We care for approximately 7,200 patients and are an established GP training practice. We are committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting our clinicians to maintain a healthy and sustainable worklife balance.
Our experienced clinical team includes 3 GP Partners, 5 Salaried GPs, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Practice Nurses and 2 Healthcare Assistants. We are also supported by the East Gateshead PCN Pharmacy Team, who provide valuable support with medication queries, structured medication reviews and other aspects of medicines management, helping our GPs to focus on clinical care.
Our practice uses EMIS Web and is committed to supporting clinicians with efficient systems, effective teamwork and a well-organised approach to patient care.

Job description Job responsibilities
The role will include:
Conducting face-to-face and telephone consultations. Managing a varied caseload and responding to acute and urgent presentations. Participating in the duty doctor and home visiting rotas, as required. Reviewing and managing patient test results and correspondence. Prescribing safely and appropriately in accordance with national and local guidance. Completing referrals, medical reports and other clinical documentation. Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous clinical records. Participating in practice audits, clinical governance and significant event reviews. Contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives. Supporting the education and training of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Participating in practice meetings, educational sessions and relevant training. Contributing to the development of a key clinical area, with opportunities to take a lead role where appropriate. Supporting the ongoing development and implementation of practice policies, procedures and services.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
MBBS or equivalent medical qualification - Full GMC registration with a licence to practise - MRCGP or equivalent - Inclusion on the NHS England Medical Performers List - Right to work in the UK - Relevant experience working in UK general practice
